According to IGN, Ubisoft is cutting 55 jobs across its Swedish studios, Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm, after deciding that more reductions were needed following a review of future plans. This comes after a voluntary redundancy program earlier in 2025, which reduced some staff but not enough.
The company says the layoffs are not due to employee performance and that the studios’ long-term goals haven’t changed. Massive will continue working on the The Division franchise, including The Division 3, new expansions, and the Survivors extraction mode for The Division 2. The studios are also involved in an unannounced technology project, development of Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine, and support for Ubisoft Connect.
This marks Ubisoft’s second round of layoffs this year. Last week, the company shut down its mobile studio Ubisoft Halifax, resulting in 71 job losses. Ubisoft Halifax was notable for being Ubisoft’s only unionized workforce in the US.
