This Day in Gaming History: Reggie Fils-Aimé Tops the (Executive) Charts

Reggie FIls-Aimé held many titles over the span of his career. From Marketing Manager of Proctor & Gamble and Pizza Hut, to Senior Vice President of Panda Management and VH1. On May 25th, 2006, Fils-Aimé added another title to his impressive resumé, President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America.

While service as Executive Vice President, Fils-Aimé was summoned to a dinner meeting by Nintendo Co. LTD. President Satoru Iwata. Having been adamant in his stance in what would make sense for fans of Nintendo, Fils-Aimé was certain this this dinner would result in him being fired. Instead Iwata-San promoted Fils-Aimé to President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America, citing Reggie’s firm stances on modernizing the brand and installing consumer-friendly initiatives such as packing Wii Sports in with their upcoming Wii console.

Reggie went to on serve as President and Chief Operating Officer for nearly 13 years, retiring in April of 2019.
