Things at Xbox get Heated

It’s no secret upon it’s release in 2005, Xbox 360 was facing major issues with what became known as the “Red Ring of Death.” According to the official Xbox documentary Power On: The Story of Xbox, the failure rate of the console became nearly 100% in 2007. In response, Xbox President Peter Moore realized something drastic had to be done. After being told what type of financial number would be needed in order to correct this major issue the right way, Moore took that number to Microsoft Co-Founder Steve Ballmer. Ballmer, known for his charismatic and eccentric personality, is also known for making his opinions known clearly and loudly.

When Moore communicated to Ballmer that it would cost 1.15 billion dollars to basically save the Xbox brand, Moore was expected to be as he put it, “ripped to shreds.” instead, Ballmer answered calmly and collectively:

“Do it. Just do it. We’ll figure it all out. We’ll take the hit.”

Not only did Xbox survive this, the Xbox 360 generation is widely considered the best generation of Xbox.
