Peripheral Review: Roccat Kone Pro Gaming Mouse

Roccat has provided must-have PC accessories since their inception in 2006. Since Turtle Beach acquired the company in 2019, their brand recognition has increased ten-fold. The value gamers get for the price point is unmatched.

The company now has unleashed their newest gaming mouse on the world, and we’re happy to report that once again, Roccat has provided great gaming equipment at a great price.

The first thing players will notice is not the aesthetics of the device, but the weight of it. The Roccat Kone Pro is that whether they own the Ash Black or Arctice white version, the device is very light. Weighing in at less than 3 ounces, It feels like there’s almost nothing there. This honestly made us question what the quality might be when we fired it up; but once we did, all of that wonder disappeared. The device feels super comfortable thanks to Roccat’s bionic shell and the side buttons are placed perfectly. We found far better-than-expected response time and accuracy thanks to the Owl-Eye 19k dpi sensor. There was no difference in movement at all whether we used a gaming mousepad or a gaming desk surface. Both experiences were equally as smooth. What also helps in that precision is the Phantom Flex cable. We mention the cable because somehow it stays out of the way. We’ve never seen something like this before, but because of some sorcery Roccat was able to pull off, the technology works.

We’re big fans of clicky switches and The Roccat Kone Pro delivers on that front as well. Calling the technology Titan Optical Switch, the side switches provide a satisfying click and a far faster response time than mechanical switches. The Titan Wheel Pro is made of aluminum and feels and performs with a much more than expected quality for it’s price point.

Next up is the RGB lighting. The Roccat Kone Pro features RGB lighting under the click and secondary click buttons that are capable of producing 16.8 million colors. Yes, that millions. That’s enough to match up with any brand of gaming keyboard on the market, but if Roccat is the player’s brand of choice for keyboards as well, they’ll find that with Aimo-enabled, the sync patterns flow across devices beautifully.

The Roccat Kone Pro may be the most surprising gaming gear of the year so far. It boasts features and quality that are normally reserved for devices twice the price. Whether users are new to mouse and keyboard or looking to replace their gear; When the battle begins, this fully-loaded weapon needs to be in gamers’ arsenal.

The Roccat Kone Pro is available now at an MSRP of $79.99.
