E3 is confirmed to return to the Los Angeles Convention Center beginning on June 13th and concluding on June 16th, 2023. The event will be open to the public on June 15th and 16th, taking place in a separate area from the media hall.
In a press release published by ReedPop, the company hosting the event, Vice President of Gaming Kyle Marsden said, “E3 is one of the global gaming industry’s few opportunities to come together, unite as one loud voice, and show the world what it is creating. Our vision is to reunite the industry by re-establishing the traditional E3 week bring back that spark, and restore E3’s role as a truly magical global showcase event for game creators and consumers.”
This marks the first time that E3 has been held in a physical location since 2019. The pandemic killed any hopes of a 2020 event, a digital event in 2020 was lauded as sloppy and unnecessary, and E3 2021 was canceled as it after plans for the event fell through.
Throughout its absence and controversial comeback, many companies have pivoted to digital events spread throughout the year. While this is certainly a cost-effective way for companies to showcase what they are working on, in our experience, it’s not the same as feeling the excitement and electric atmosphere of a physical event.
Welcome back E3; we’ve missed you.
