In an interview with Game Rant, Assassin’s Creed Shadows Creative Director Jonathan Dumont talked about a variety of topics, most notably open worlds, but one thing he said stuck out. When interviewer Joshua Duckworth asked what sets Assassin’s Creed Shadows apart from the rest, Dumont said;
“I personally really wanted to be able to stand on a hill somewhere and say, “I’m the first person that’s seeing this in the winter under these specific conditions,” where it’s heavy snow and nighttime. Obviously, other people may see that, but there’s this impression that I’m living in this moment that will eventually pass, so I thought that was interesting.”
What Duckworth said leads us to believe that this open world title may be the most “alive” world gaming has seen. With seasons time systems as well as a variety of new features that help the world of central Japan live and breathe.
