A Smashing Update on Wii U and 3DS

Nintendo released Version 1.1.0 for Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS on Friday, July 31 which includes the free online Tournament Mode with options for Community and Regular Tournaments on the Wii U version of the game. Players can customize certain rules for the duration of their tournaments and advertise them on the new Miiverse Tourney Community page. Additionally, the update introduces the ability to upload Replay videos to YouTube and Miiverse and makes extensive tweaks in an effort to balance the fighting cast.

Along with the free content included with update 1.1.0, Nintendo also released a variety of DLC for purchase on the Nintendo eShop. The classic stages Peach’s Castle (64) and Hyrule Castle (64) cost $1.99 each to download or $2.99 each to get them on both the Wii U and 3DS versions at once. Players may remember these stages from the original Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64.

Nine new Mii outfits, $0.75 each or $1.15 for both versions, allow you to dress your Mii Fighter as Chrom or the Black Knight from Fire Emblem, Samus from Metroid, Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia, The Flying Man from Mother/EarthBound, and King K. Rool from Donkey Kong Country. Two other outfits include a Bear outfit and Hoodie, and the K.K. Slider outfit for Mii Gunners comes free with the update.

As part of this large release, players can now purchase all four DLC fighters in a single bundle which costs $21.96 to get them on both versions of the game. The third DLC Collection can be purchased as a bundle for $15.18 for both versions at once.
